One thing every parent would agree upon is the never ending meal-time battles we wage with our kids. As much as you strive to provide wholesome and healthy nutrition, their preferences lean towards tastier and sugary junk foods. I often get an earful from my mom about how I need to take a little more time and make healthier meals and snacks for my kids myself instead of just picking them off the store shelves. As much as I would love to dig out my grandmother’s and mom’s recipes, as a working mother, I face the time crunch and in the process, I also do not want my kid to miss out on the goodness of Indian foods. That’s when my friend suggested Slurrp Farm‘s products.

The Story Behind Slurrp Farm:

Slurp Farm is the brainchild of two moms- Meghana Narayan and Shauravi Malik, who first came upon the idea when they were working in London. Meghana Narayan, an MBA from Harvard Business School, was an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company in Delhi where she led the public health practice. Shauravi Malik, who holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Cambridge University has worked in the Consumer, Healthcare and Retail Advisory team and the Leveraged Finance team at J.P. Morgan, and was an Investment Manager at Sir Richard Branson’s Group Holding entity at the Virgin Group in London. Every time they visited India, their friends would request them to get some of the best organic children’s food products from London, whose ingredients actually have their roots in India. That set the ball rolling!

The lack of millet-based food options for children in India, also got the 2 moms thinking, as millets were an integral superfood that they grew up relishing and it brought back fond memories of childhood. The inspiration, they say, stems from the need to get back to the basics. Inspired greatly by their grandmother’s recipes, they have their certain cereal prototypes right from Meghana’s grandmother’s special recipe!

What We Would Like To See:

  • As parents, who strive to serve a variety of treats to our kids, we expected a broader range of products from Slurrp Farm. And we are told, they are planning on launching yummy pancakes and drink mixes in the coming months, and we just can’t wait!
  • They also plan to introduce healthy breakfast option for kids that focus on cutting down the unnecessary sugary food that kids tend to consume. We would also like to watch out for more quick meal packs that can double up as lunch in addition to the home-packed foods.
