There’s been a lot of bad press for the year 2016 – events across the Persian Gulf, the refugee crisis, the two votes held in the UK and the US and the death of some of the world’s most talented artists.

Yet as a family, 2016 will forever be special for us. It all began when in January this year we finally decided to change thought into action – from talking about adoption to making it happen. So, we reached out to friends who’d done the same and who in turn introduced us to the incredible, inspiring world of adoption agencies.

Imagine having to physically and emotionally nurture children who you know aren’t your own and are only meant to move on to other homes. The agencies do this under severe budget constraints while being buried in bureaucracy. Adoption agencies are that part of our social fabric that basically weave over the weaker threads to make the cloth stronger.
