5 Celebrity Moms Who Bore the Brunt!

First, it’s not easy being a woman in a rat race where everybody wants to be No. 1! You know the amount of effort it takes to reach there with long hours at work, right? But, when you decide to get married and those long hours don’t excite you anymore, that’s when you take up something more comfortable. As you climb higher and move on to the next level in your personal life, you realise that people are just waiting for you to exit from there so that they can fill in your chair.

Women in the public eye make for easy targets to glossies, gossip sites and cheeky tabloids. Clearly it’s tough for women to win and have it all. Perhaps it comes from the fact that our appetite for advice is often layered with the feeling that the advice is really an admonition. Here are 5 women who have got the flak for being successful, being on top of their game and most importantly being moms.

Aishwarya Rai: 

Remember all the speculation on her visiting Cannes Film Festival 2012 soon after her daughter’s delivery. When she did announce her presence, the media couldn’t stop talking about what she should wear to conceal that weight, her wrong designer choices and finally the amount of weight she had to lose.

The scrutiny continued at Cannes 2013 too

Marissa Mayer:

 This ex Google employee and now Yahoo! CEO got the gossip mills churning with her announcement to get back to work after cutting her maternity leave short. What’s more, she was heavily criticised for dismissing the work from home policy at Yahoo! too.

Her glamourous shoot coverage in the August issue of Vogue got tongues wagging and Marissa landed up being talked about more for her change of policy and stunningly glamourous fashion magazine spread than her ability to be hired at the top position despite being five months pregnant.

Kate Middleton:

 She was accused of being ‘Mommyrexic’ and following an unhealthy diet. What’s more, media stated that she wasn’t the ideal mommy to look upto while being pregnant, only because she wasn’t showing until her final weeks. Eating disorders aside, blogs were bursting with curiosity about whether Middleton was “too thin to conceiveâ€_x009d_ and “too thin to bear an heir.â€_x009d_

The Royal mother’s belly drew more attention than her courage and beauty to step out looking so stunning in just 24 hours post delivery. Everybody expected her to wear something loose or get into a tummy tucker in order to conceal that little bump. Here is the not so nice stuff that went viral in no time: “She’s still fat. #KateMiddleTON,” “Whose kid is he holding? It’s obvious that skank is still pregnant,” and “Kate Middleton still looks pregnant. Is that normal? I know there’s ‘baby fat’ after bt it lks like she’s got anthr1 in there.”

Katie Holmes: 

This hands-on mom has the paparazzi chasing her and is constantly accused of raising a brat and fashionista, Suri Cruise. Women across the globe think she spends too much on her child’s wardrobe and is responsible for Suri’s behaviour with the paparazzi. We haven’t heard too much from women on how she always chaperones her daughter and is trying to live a balanced normal life like any other New Yorker.

Katie was later accused of going through the whole divorce drama and accusing husband Tom for Scientology so she could retain her custody of her daughter.

Michelle Obama: 

She is said to have a very tasteful dressing sense that attracts more attention than her work. Critics judge her for making red carpet appearances and gracing fashion magazine covers while being the First Lady.

When Michelle Obama made her surprise appearance at 2013 Oscars, presenting Argo with the best picture prize, criticism flew thick and fast, with conservative media pundits and other detractors lamenting the mix of Hollywood and politics and the First Lady’s love for the limelight. However, the First Lady dismissed the critics with  – “That’s just the nature of life,” on an NBC show that aired soon after.
