Kids ask a bazillion questions! Most of them have an easy answer, but some are more complex. Like this one. Success is something even we as adults sometimes find hard to explain. And success has a different definition for different people. We might have our own too. But, how do we explain it to a small child? There are many lessons that we’d like to teach our children. But for me teaching them to do things the hard way is the most important and also the most difficult.

Does Success Come By Choosing The Tough Path?

Why? Because if there’s anything you can do to build your child up for success it’s teaching them that success isn’t easy. It takes work, so get used to doing things the hard way because that’s what’ll make you driven, diligent and persistent. The qualities that’ll take them far in whatever they choose to do in life. That’s how they’ll learn the real meaning of success. That the fruit of hard work is sweeter than anything else. That it all pays off in the end. But if you don’t put in the work, you can’t expect outstanding results.

But it won’t be easy. It’s tough because it’s seemingly hardwired in their brains to go for the easy shortcut when given a chore or work to do. Whether it’s washing dishes, cleaning their room or doing homework it’s so tempting for them to take the easy way out. That’s why I reinforce the point of doing it right, doing it the hard way by making them redo the task.
