This one sure did raise some eyebrows.

72 year old Daljinder Kaur gave birth to her first child, after two years of IVF treatment. Haryana based couple Daljinder Kaur and her husband, Maninder Singh Gill are celebrating the birth of their son, Arman after years of battling taunts about their infertility.

Kaur and Gill are both in their 70s and have been married for 46 years and have for years tried to conceive a child. So when they saw an advert for an IVF clinic, they felt that they needed to give it a try. Kaur said: “When we saw the [IVF] advert, we thought we should also give it a try as I badly wanted to have a baby of my own.â€_x009d_

But despite all the cheer and happiness, the couple has also had to face severe backlash from the Indian medical community who say there are “ethical issues” to having a baby when the combined age of the couple is over a 100. They believe that it is very dangerous and stressful for a woman in her 70s to be carrying a child in her womb for nine months.

Meanwhile, Daljinder says she feels her life is “finally complete” and that she and her husband plan on taking care of their baby boy themselves.
