Growing up, my mom always claimed that she never liked to get into the kitchen and cook. Fortunately, we had a cook who took care of our meals, but my Mom would go in every once a while to make certain snacks & dishes that she enjoyed eating ‘her style’. My mom herself grew up eating these dishes, hence for her, it was a part of her childhood and memories of her world with my Nani that she brought along with her after marriage, wanted to hold on to and eventually pass on to her daughters.
Here are two such dishes that we have grown up eating, be it as after-school snacks or as a snack served at our birthday parties or when friends were over. Every time I make them they carry the fond memories of my Mom feeding them to us as kids.
